The Challenge
MedeVisions.com, a business unit of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, approached Soleil Technologies™ with the vision of producing an eBusiness consisting of an online auction for medical equipment combined with medical equipment asset management services. The portal would provide:

A "one stop service" for healthcare professionals to sell and manage biomedical equipment

Management of the entire equipment sales process online, including credit approval of buyers

Drive traffic to the primary e-commerce tool on the site, a B2B online auction

The Soleil Solution™
Soleil™ developed a vertical marketplace consisting of five integrated applications accessible through the Internet. These applications feature equipment sales through an online auction and product catalog, an asset management module to track equipment certifications, and a maintenance module for preventative maintenance scheduling. The buying process is expedited via XML technology, which automatically forwards pertinent buyer information to Escrow.com, an intermediary in the sales process. Soleil's Max-Bid Auction, a pre-built vertical business component contained 70% of the functionality needed, boosted development and helped MedeVisions meet its critical time-to-market objectives.

The Results
Medevisions.com has quickly become a leading player in the medical equipment resale market and has grown one of the largest tech-savvy healthcare buying audiences on the Internet. The site has experienced significant market interest; products for sale have increased by 67%; and no outages due to technical difficulties have occurred. MedeVisions credits Soleil™ software, with its user-friendly buyer registration process and easy, integrated credit approval process as a major factor in their success.
