The Challenge
This innovative telecom portal offers customers the unique ability to select multiple long distance providers and receive the benefit of the lowest rate across those providers for each phone call made. One of the site's revolutionary features is the use of the Internet to visually track the duration and cost of a phone call in progress.

This international long-distance provider had already moved their offshore development efforts to the US and adopted application server technology to build their dynamic web site. Development of the application was under considerable pressure due to the specialized programming skills and expertise required to meet the product's complicated technical needs. Soleil Technologies™ was contacted to assume leadership of the project, complete development, and prepare the product for launch. The objectives were to:

The Soleil Solution™
Soleil™ immediately installed the technology infrastructure necessary for a rapid application development (RAD) environment. Software code was assessed and missing business logic quickly implemented to stabilize the application. To boost development efforts and regain critical lost time, a wide array of productivity components encapsulating commonly used programming functions were installed. A configurable e-bill paying system, constructed with Enterprise JavaBean™ (EJB) technology, delivers instantaneous payment on accounts.

Launched in January 2001, the site has quickly become the most innovative player in the international voice communications industry. Enterprise JavaBean components comprise a significant portion of the site's underlying technology keeping the integration capabilities of the system open - assuring the long-term success and scalability of the application.
